Chapter 12: Snark Side of the Court! Camelia Snarks and a Magic Gatekeeper Breaks the Ranks!

Camelia's assertion that she refused to stay neutral and that she'd defend the rest of her group even when she was ruled out as a suspect was moving and inspiring to them, but the Magic Gatekeepers still had an issue with her assertion.

"However, you violated the dimension weavers' rules of secrecy around mortals." Ragnar said.

"I had no choice. I had to use my powers in front of them." Camelia argued. "It might not have been safe to step outside space-time to try to fix it from the outside."

"We can take that into consideration." Aiko said. This was somewhat assuring to Camelia, but she still needed to wait as the Magic Gatekeepers made their decision.

Mia reluctantly gave their next ruling and sighed. "We'll drop the charge. You could've been locked out. We rebooted the space-time continuum using a backup."

"Thank you so much!" Camelia said in relief. However, she briefly thought about the implications of restoring the space-time continuum from a back-up. Did anyone get erased from existence because of it? She realized they didn't but that many people were displaced from their time periods.

Image description: Camelia snarking!

"But I must say, what a choppy effort. There are anachronisms everywhere!" She said defiantly. The atmosphere of the room heated up, almost literally!

Image description: A chibi Ragnar full of rage!

"We showen mercy to thee and tis how thou payest us in kind?! Never again!" Ragnar shouted. A fiery and spiky aura emerged around him, but the Magic Gatekeepers' outfits, furniture and themselves are fireproof.

Image description: Aiko slammed her hand on the table and delivers some truthful but scathing words!

Aiko smacked one of her hands, which was exuding powerful magical energy and sparks from it on the table. "Ha! How about you try to do a smoother job fixing it than us?! Oh wait, you can't because you're not a Magic Gatekeeper!" Aiko added with furious snarking.

This exchange left the group of stranded people at the defendants' tables in shock. "How can Cam say that?!" Katt asked. "What's she trying to do?" Felicity added.

Image description: Thutmose looking serious and analytical. For stylistic effect, one of the lenses in his glasses are reflecting the light

"Your flippant remarks are truthful. We shall concede that point to you." Thutmose stoically said to Camelia. "A reboot with fewer anachronisms and shortcuts could have been achieved, but for how long did you wish to be kept waiting while you were suspended in space-time?" He asked the rest of the defendants. Since they remembered the horror of being suspended in space-time, the courtroom quickly went silent.

"Your extended silence proves our point." Thutmose said.

When many of the defendants were worrying about whether Camelia's remarks would hurt their case, Kayla kept her composure. "She knows what she's doing, for all of us." She explained. The rest of this group didn't feel assured, but took Kayla's word for it. She led the efforts to cheer on Camelia!

Image description: The group of defendants are cheering for Camelia like their lives depend on it!

"Do this like our lives depend on it!" She blurted out. Immediately after, more cheers for her would be shouted from the defendant's tables.

"We're all in this together!" Camelia turned back to the group and acknowledged them.

Image description: Mia objects!

"Objection! We object to your snarking Ms. Errington. You shouldn't be criticizing historical inaccuracies! You're dressed like a flapper in the 1880's!" Mia objected. "Go back-- err... Go forward to the 1920's!" She added. Even the top enforcers of the Magestablishment that the Academy of Time Travel report to can get confused by which tense to use for time travel situations!

"But I'm not a time traveler!" Camelia said.

Suddenly a loud thud could be heard from the judges' stands. Ragnar was annoyed and slammed his fist down. "Argh... I would drop the remaining charges if thou stoppest being a smarta** and gettest to the f**king point!" He said.

"On our side, Camelia is our MVP. On the Gatekeepers' side, their tables are their MVPs." Kayla thought. Moments later, the Magic Gatekeepers would be squabbling with each other!

"What?! Are you dissenting?! A unanimous decision is mandatory to permit us to commence any action!" Thutmose argued.

"So much for not showing mercy again and not backing down from a challenge?" Mia sarcastically said.

"Nice going, dude! You'd be forfeiting for all of us!" Aiko added. It seemed like they were arguing 3 against 1, but they'd argue with each other too in a free for all! "The rule is we're all in it together!" She added.

"When have we been united in our endeavors?!" Thutmose argued with Aiko.

"A few hundred years ago?! That's hilarious!" She argued back with sarcasm.

"Ha! A few hundred years ago?! That's a pretty f**king generous assumption!" Mia added.

Image description. Self-explanatory file name, the Magic Gatekeepers continue arguing in the court!

Their arguing continued.

"What now? Did we win?" Camelia asked, but her question wasn't answered.

"Why can't you keep going 3 against 1? This is the most entertaining courtroom procedure I've been in." Fiorina said.
